When someone visits a page that doesn't exist, they see a "404 Not Found" page. You can replace the plain default with your own friendly page.
Using WordPress? Your theme already handles 404 pages, so you don't need this.
Creating a Custom Error Page
- Log in to cPanel (see How to Log In to cPanel)
- In the Advanced section, click Error Pages
- Choose your domain
- Click 404 (Not Found)
- Type your page in HTML, for example a short message and a link back to your home page
- Click Save
What to Include
- A friendly message, like "Sorry, we can't find that page"
- A link to your home page
- A search box or links to your most popular pages
- Your logo and contact details
Other Error Pages
You can create pages for other errors in the same way, such as 403 (Forbidden) and 500 (Internal Server Error).
