If your hosting is running out of space, cPanel can show you exactly what's using it.
Seeing Your Total Usage
Log in to cPanel (see How to Log In to cPanel). The Statistics panel on the right shows Disk Usage against your plan's limit.
Finding What's Using the Space
- In the Files section, click Disk Usage
- The chart shows your biggest folders. Click a folder in the lower table to see what's inside
Common Space Hogs
- Email: check under mail. See How to Clean Up a Full Mailbox
- Backups saved inside your website: WordPress backup plugins often keep old backups in wp-content. Delete old ones, or set the plugin to keep fewer copies. Your JetBackup copies don't count towards your space
- Old copies of your site: folders like public_html/old or public_html/backup
- Log files: large error_log files in your website folders. You can delete these
What Happens If You Run Out?
When your account is full, email can't be delivered and your website may stop saving uploads or orders. Free up space, or upgrade your plan.
